The group of pelicans (a selection of a larger group) were taken as we crossed the waterway by bridge. as we approached, they all slowly entered the water and magestically swam away. Immediately after the last bird settled in the water, one of the leading birds dropped out of the convoy, turned and fell in behind the last bird. Fortunately, I have the whole episode on tape. I'm sure it is a defensive strategy. |
